Known issues and changes
What changed in each version, and what ParkWijs does not get right yet.

Known limits
- Amsterdam is the only city checked against real parking meters. We ran ParkWijs against the location of every parking meter in Amsterdam, and 6,443 of 6,445 gave the right answer. In Utrecht, Rotterdam, Den Haag and Groningen we checked the rates against each municipality's own published tariffs. Everywhere else, ParkWijs uses the Dutch national parking register as it is published, and we have not checked it street by street.
- The register is better in some towns than in others. It can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Where the data is missing or unclear, ParkWijs says “Check” and asks you to read the sign. The sign at the kerb is what counts.
- Some paid zones have no readable price. The register lists them as paid but gives no usable tariff. ParkWijs then says the spot is paid, without a rate.
- Blue zones (parking disc) are only partly covered. The register has an outline for only about a quarter of them. Where there is no outline, ParkWijs usually cannot tell you that you parked in one.
- Resident permits. ParkWijs reads from the register at which times a resident permit does not count in a zone. We have only been able to check this against real cases in Amsterdam and Den Haag.
- It can miss a park. Detection needs Location set to Always, and a car that connects to your iPhone over Bluetooth audio or CarPlay. Low Power Mode, a permission switched off, or iOS pausing the app can make an alert late or stop it.
- The alarm depends on your iOS version. On iOS 26.1 and later, with Alarms allowed, it is one alarm that rings until you stop it. On older iOS, or with Alarms not allowed, it is a notification that comes back after 5 and 10 minutes.
- Only inside the Netherlands. Alerts pause outside the Dutch border.
Register problems we know about
When we find a problem in the register that affects a particular city, we list it here with the date we found it and what ParkWijs does about it.
Changes
1.2.0
Not in the App Store yet. It is waiting for Apple's review.
- ParkWijs is now a subscription. Your first month is free, then €1,99 a month.
- Check this spot: find out whether you have to pay where you are now, without parking first. Also by Siri and Shortcuts.
- Tap a verdict to see why: the zone, the week's paid hours and nearby pay meters with walking directions.
- Pick your parking app in Settings. The zone code is copied for you.
- Pay meters on the map, and a clear answer when you tap a spot with no paid zone.
- Each city shows how well its data has been checked.
- Report a verdict that looks wrong, from the spot.
- Up to three cars.
- After a paid verdict, the zone and your parking time can stay on the lock screen.
- On iOS 26.1 and later the alarm rings until you stop it, through silent mode and Focus.
- A second alarm if paid hours start after you park.
- The drive-off reminder is one notification, and parking again cancels it.
- Now in Dutch.
