ParkWijs Privacy Policy
What stays on your phone? Almost everything.
Last updated: 26 September 2026
Who is responsible
The controller for ParkWijs is Pera Meta B.V., Minervalaan 33, 1077 NL Amsterdam, the Netherlands, KvK 42015001. PeraByte Labs is a brand of Pera Meta B.V. For anything about privacy, write to privacy@perabytelabs.com.
What the app keeps on your phone
- Your location, read live to work out which parking zone you are in and to draw the map. It is not uploaded and not logged anywhere off your phone.
- Where you last parked, kept only until you drive off, so the drive-off reminder can work. There is no parking history.
- Bluetooth devices your phone has seen, by name, so you can pick your car from a list. Only on this phone.
- Your settings: your car's name, home zone, whether you hold a resident permit, and your alert choices.
- A diagnostics log of app events (for example "park detected", "alarm scheduled"), with locations rounded to about 100 metres. It stays on your phone. It only reaches us if you choose to attach it to an email to support.
- Downloaded parking rules, public open data cached on your phone.
You can erase the location data at any time in Settings, Clear stored location data. Deleting the app removes everything.
What leaves your phone
- Parking register requests. To download parking rules, the app asks the Dutch national parking register for the data of one municipality at a time. That request reveals which municipality you are viewing or parked in, and, like any internet request, your IP address. It carries nothing else about you.
- Apple Maps. Map tiles, address search and the parking garages shown on the map come from Apple. What you type in the search box and the map area you are looking at go to Apple, under Apple's privacy policy.
- Your subscription. Apple handles the purchase and tells the app only whether your subscription is active. We never see your name, card or Apple Account.
- Email you choose to send. Feedback and diagnostics go from your own mail app to support@perabytelabs.com, only when you press send. A "This looks wrong" report fills in the verdict, the zone, the time and the spot rounded to about 100 metres, so you can see and edit all of it before you send.
- Links you tap. A garage or a parking app opens that operator's website or app, under their own privacy policy.
Alerts are scheduled on your phone. We run no push server and do not know when or where you receive one. There are no analytics, trackers, advertising or third-party data SDKs in the app.
Legal basis and how long we keep it
In normal use of the app we receive no personal data at all, so there is nothing for us to keep. For this website, see below. If you email us, we use your message to answer you, on the basis of our legitimate interest in supporting the app (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), and we delete it within 24 months of the last contact.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, erase or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to it, and to receive it in a portable form. Most of it lives only on your phone, where you control it directly. For anything you sent us, write to privacy@perabytelabs.com and we will answer within a month. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
This website
parkwijs.perabytelabs.com is hosted by Vercel, with DNS and network protection by Cloudflare. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
- Server logs. When you open a page, Vercel and Cloudflare process your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser's user agent, to deliver the site and keep it secure. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the site safely and reliably (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not combine these logs with anything else. Vercel keeps its request logs for between one hour and one day, depending on the hosting plan. Cloudflare keeps its logs for the periods set out in Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Network error reports. Cloudflare adds a Network Error Logging header to the site's responses. It asks your browser to send Cloudflare a short report if loading the site fails at the network level, for example a connection or DNS error. Cloudflare uses these reports to monitor its network and states that it does not store your IP address with them.
- Processors and transfers. Vercel Inc. and Cloudflare, Inc. process this data for us as processors. Both are based in the United States, so it may be processed there. Both are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and their data processing agreements include the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children
ParkWijs is a utility for drivers and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date. If a future version of ParkWijs ever sent data about you off your phone, we would say so here, in plain language, before it shipped.
